The Boys themselves are in good shape. Frenchie (Tomer Capone) now has a more prominent and more boring supporting storyline about a complicated love interest, and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) resolves the issue of her past by hunting it down. Hughie (Jack Quaid) and the gang’s leader, Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), also fight personal demons, Butcher (Karl Urban) reveals a surface layer of humanity as he is driven to exterminate the antagonists after receiving a terminal disease diagnosis with a notable dark, father like figure. Though they might feel more filler than usual, these arcs give the show a rough emotional structure that brings the season back down to Earth amidst all the newest twists and turns.
